West Bloomfield Fire Department Chief, Greg Flynn, said that the similarities in some of the work and characteristics of both public safety and military service such as a respect for order, physical and mental fortitude, camaraderie and more make for a smooth transition in most cases from military service to public service as veterans move into careers in public safety.
