University of Michigan Bird Expert Explains Why We are Seeing More Unusual Birds in Michigan

Dr. Ben Winger, Ph.D., Assistant Professor and Curator of Birds at the Museum of Zoology and Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Michigan, says that these birds typically live in northern areas such as the Upper Peninsula and Canada and survive on seeds from local plant life, and may have migrated to seek food due to a lower collection of food sources in the north during this season.
