Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Dr. Joneigh Khaldun address the latest information regarding the State of Michigan’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic

At the midway point of the three-week “pause,” issued in an epidemic order by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) on November 18, Governor Gretchen Whitmer details Michigan’s progress in battling the recent surge in COVID-19 cases statewide, as well as an outlook into the future and further pleas to Michiganders to follow COVID-19 safety protocols in order to prevent further spread of the virus. Additionally, Governor Whitmer doubles down on her recent comments calling for the State to provide a stimulus package to Michiganders, not expecting a timely package to be passed at the federal level anytime soon.

Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, Chief Medical Executive at the MDHHS, provides a statistical update on COVID-19 cases in Michigan, as well as a report on how the three week “pause,” issued in November, is affecting changes in COVID-19 cases in response to a major surge in mid-to-late November.
