Oakland University Professor and Chair of Philosophy, Dr. Mark Navin, Ph.D., argues that one of the key purposes of government is to protect the public from “predictable, serious harms,” and that the similar efforts seen through modern history to protect from those harms militarily need to also be put into protecting the public from threats to public health.
