American Economics Researcher Says COVID-19 Restrictions Not Large Factor in Job Market Recovery

Brad Hershbein, Senior Economist and Communications Advisor at the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research, says that the greatest factor, per his organization’s research, in job market recovery was mortality due to COVID-19 outbreaks, as deaths not only reduce the number of people in the job market, but also how many people can return to the job market and fill open positions.
