Governor Whitmer Announces New CARES Act Funds for Schools | Press Conference, August 19, 2020

Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Dr. Joneigh Khaldun and other State leaders address the public about the COVID-19 response in a press conference in Lansing, MI on August 19, 2020.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced $65 Million dollars in federal CARES Act dollars that will be allocated to schools throughout the State of Michigan to provide additional, critical resources such as access to technology, mental health services and more.

Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, Chief Medical Executive of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, detailed the latest COVID-19 case data and provided an update on the aggressive contact tracing operation being undertaken by the State of Michigan and local, county health departments.
