Author and President of the John Corcoran Foundation, John Corcoran, says that teachers need to stop focusing on what is preventing students from learning as “disabilities” and instead work to teach kids strategies to learn to read and write that fit within their unique learning abilities and styles, which will “decode” the reading and writing process and allow students to learn at their own pace, in their own way, and develop the skill of reading in a way that will benefit them long-term.
