Walled Lake Consolidated School District Superintendent, Kenneth Gutman, says that schools were incentivized to return to in-person learning by federal funding (allocated by the State Legislature), but are now being encouraged to pause in-person learning and sports at the high school level, frustrating administrators as plans continue to need to be changed or, in Walled Lake’s case, plans are and will remain in place to prevent outbreaks and to address outbreaks and close facilities only on an as-needed basis.
