In this edition of West Bloomfield 911, Denise Scarbrough, Board Member of MICOPS visits with Officer Rick Trabulsy. Additionally, Officer Rick introduces a Police Cadet in the Corner Spotlight, Dumb Criminal of the Day, and a fallen K-9 officer. The organization MICOPS stands for Michigan Concerns of Police Officers. This group helps Michigan police survivors by offering support and making connections with others that have this awful loss. Denise lost her husband Sergeant Michael Scarbrough, a Wayne County Airport Authority Police Officer, in 2005 when the car he and a coworker were traveling in on their way to a weapons training program slid on black ice, and off the road. The help that Denise received from MICOPS and the week-long camp with counseling offered to her and her children encouraged her to give back and to join the organization.
